The Beluga Song

This morning, as Simeon was playing in the living room with his toy 'hippie van' (A Volkswagen bus 1:64 replica), I got the pleasure of knowing how much he listens to the songs we sing to him. We've recently made up our own family version of the song "Baby Beluga" by Raffi, as our big Ford Windstar van has recently been christened 'The Beluga'.

Anyway, as I was making breakfast and he was playing away I heard him singing word for word:
"Big white beluga on the open road
driving to and driving fro;
Kids go in and the kids go out
see the gas pouring out of your spout!"

It's one of those little parental rewards that I have to take the time to pay attention to, as I could so easily miss it.

Egg Hunting

Today we had an all out Easter egg hunt (slash 1st birthday for Ben) at mom and dad Walker's. This was Tobi's brainchild, and turned out to be a lot of fun for our growing number of kiddies and their parents too! Here are a few highlights we caught before our camera battery died...

Milk Machines

The boys are very serious about their milk...

Earthworms for Snack?

Conversation had tonight while Simeon was playing in the bathtub before bed:

Daddy: So what did you do today Sim?
Simeon: (Pause, while thinking.)I was outside!
Daddy: And what did you do outside?
Simeon: I dug up a worm with the digger.
Daddy: And what did you do when you found the worm?
Simeon: I eat it.
Daddy: (disguising a look of horror)Oh!(Pause). What did it taste like?
Simeon: Juice.
(Longer Pause, Daddy attempts to suppress laughter.)
Daddy: Simeon? Can you promise me not to eat any more worms?
Simeon: Ok, I promise not to eat any more worms.

Fam of Five

Ta-da! We're (almost) all smiling at once...

The kids godparents and our friends, Joni and Eric Cooper, were in town this weekend from New Hampshire. Simmy was trying not to smile...we were all blessed to spend time with them again.

Celebrating 34 years...

Granny and Grandpa "Owl" (as Simmy affectionately calls him) opening their presents. Sim thought the face mugs were hillarious and got a kick out of trying to make the faces too! They ended up seranading him to bed that night, with Grandpa on the guitar and Granny signing along. Now bedtime will never be the same again...

Party time

Getting ready for Olivia's shower, wearing her first dress. My sister in laws threw a wonderful party, complete with this gorgeous girly cake made by my friend Jenn, who has since had a baby girl of her own. We felt so loved, thank you all!
