Sew, Simmy, Sew!

The Mushroom fascination continues...but with a different medium this time. We have all been somewhat inspired by my new sewing set-up in our creativity space. More projects to come!

Budding Scientists

Well, this attempt to use a lemon to light up a light bulb hasn't worked yet, but it was a lesson in perserverance and problem solving. Afterall, how many tries did Thomas Edison take???

So much learning really does happen within the process...

Getting into the Olympic Spirit

We spent the day being rather patriotic. In honour of the fact that the Olympic torch was coming right near our house, we made our own Canada Flags and Olympic torches, then walked down the road to join with our community to watch the flame run past...

Learning about the Olympic symbols and mascots...

Passing time before the torch parade came our way...
My favorite part of the adventure was on the walk home when the boys turned on the flashlights in the Olympic torches they made
and ran all the way home. Go Canada!

Sunday night tradition

Passing along the Apple Crisp tradition...almost every Sunday night growing up we would have crisp for dinner. If mom was feeling extra health-consious we would have soup first, but quite often it was just this sweet beauty along with the Wonderful World of Disney at 6 pm. Still smells of comfort to my soul. How does comfort smell to you???

Snowflakes

scientific classification of snowflakes on a snowy day...
then we used our watercolours to make a winter wash and experimented
with salt crystals to make a snowy scene...
One more thing...we made snow ice cream like this!
